Doctor Zhivago

Daisy's story is below the poster.

Daisy was not fond of cold weather, so when she was approached to appear in Dr. Zhivago, she was naturally hesitant. However, in spite of the snowy and icy appearance of a Russian winter in the movie, Dr. Zhivago was almost entirely filmed at several locations a very warm Spain. Interior scenes were shot in Madrid. Since it wasn't going to involve being cold, and it was an opportunity to again be with Omar Sharif, Daisy signed on. The shared scenes with him in Lawrence of Arabia were some of her favorite memories.

The only shooting exceptions were the train scene which was shot in Finland, and a few background mountain scenes that were filmed in the Canadian Rockies. Daisy was not in any of those scenes and happily remained in warm Spain.

The sets, especially the ice palace, caused some confusion for Daisy. She was very cautious and did a lot of sniffing at the exterior set for the ice castle because the fake snow was made out of plaster. It was hard, dry, and warm rather than soft, wet, and cold. The bed scenes were much more to her liking because they were in a nice studio with breaks for food and treats.

She adored Omar Sharif, who played Zhivago, and made sure that whenever the opportunity arose, she was always closer to him than was Julie Christie.
